Wedding of Greg Berner and fiancé Susanne Gatto

This was this was my first wedding as the solemnizer. Captain Greg asked if my USCG captains license enabled me to be a wedding officiant? I explained that if I conducted the wedding on board a boat the marriage was only legal until the boat returned to the dock. Captain Greg thought that was fine. Susanne not so much. I became an ordained minister, started my own church - the Church of Blue Heaven Unorthodox. Greg and Susanne were married on the foredeck of their sailboat Volante at the Waukegan Yacht Club. It was a lovely affair.
